Operated and managed by Charlie Neymour and Fatiha Lamghari, this waterside lodge was remodeled and upgraded in early 2004. Eight comfortable air-conditioned guest rooms have mini-refrigerators and private baths. Androsia batik curtains and linens adorn the rooms and the main lodge area that includes a spacious dining room and bar with satellite TV. A wrap-around deck overlooking the water is used for barbecues and après fishing cocktails. The lush landscaping, including aloe trees, coconut palms, and a variety of orchid plants, is maintained by the remarkable Daisy Nottage, the owner of the property. Daisy can go out and catch grouper off the reef, or mix a potion to cure whatever ails you with equal ease. Her health potions are for sale, including her famous potency formula.
Extensive wadable flats are right out front. Charlie and Fatiha have a number of plans in the works for more upgrades and additions in 2005. Charlie also plans to offer boar hunting and wing-shooting programs in addition to his outstanding fishing program that can include fishing remote land-locked lakes. Camp-out trips can be arranged to fish remote areas of the West Side . Fishing areas include the North, Middle, and South Bights, outside ocean flats from Bowen Sound to Moxey Town , the vast West Side region, and the tremedous bluewater fishery in the Tongue of the Ocean.
Charlie is one of our favorite all-time guides, and if you want to fish with him you'll have to book months in advance due to his loyal repeat clientele. What makes Charlie so special? Let's see, how do we count the way---well, he's always fun to be with out on the water, always works hard, has a ready smile and a great laugh, he's patient, a superior instructor, will fish you from dawn to dusk, and no osprey has better eyes.
On top of that Charlie understands the Andros fishery as well or better than anyone--a truly unique fishery due to the character of the Bights and the Tongue of the Ocean. There is always a high and low tide phase somewhere, and most tidal stages in-between. For example, when the tide is at its highest on the east coast, it is at its lowest on the West Side . As a boat progresses from east to west, the tide is at varying stages of rising and falling. For anglers looking for specific tidal conditions this is an exciting situation. With the aid of a fast boat (we call Charlie's boat "the rocket ship"), anglers can fish an incoming tide most of the day, or a falling tide, or any stage of the tide that seems desirable.
One of our favorite fishing day options with Charlie is to stalk tarpon on the last half of the incoming tide on the West Side in the morning, then dash to the east coast to fish the incoming tide on the ocean flats for big bonefish. In this scenario, we have experienced days in which we battled tarpon over one hundred pounds, then bonefish over ten pounds. This strategy has also put us in position to finish the day going for permit on a high oceanside tide. Unfortunately for us, the huge Andros permit have never been hungry for our flies on a day we had success with tarpon and bonefish. So...we're still pursuing that elusive Andros grand slam.
The scenario above is just one of a countless number of daily strategies Charlie has running through his head. Every day of fishing with him is memorable. So whether you're in pursuit of bonefish, tarpon, dorado or other premiere gamefish, you won't find a better guide anywhere. Charlie also works with all the top independent guides on the island to accommodate groups of up to twelve anglers.
Back at the lodge, Fatiha does a remarkable job of making all guests feel at home. From a hearty breakfast to start the day, to welcoming après fishing treats and cold drinks when you return from fishing, to sumptuous fresh seafood dinners, Fatiha oversees everything that will make your trip relaxing and enjoyable.
