Grande Ronde River -Steelhead and Rainbow Trout

"I've taken steelhead on flies in forty rivers from Southern Oregon to northern British Columbia, and the Grande Ronde is the top of the list for joys in surface steelhead."
- Bill McMillan, fly caster, writer, Steelhead guru.

The Grande Ronde River, in the extreme Northeast corner of Oregon, affords a rare opportunity to fly fish a nearly pristine river corridor. The sections we float are road-less, and are accessed on multi-day camping trips. The river canyon encompasses a variety of terrain types: from forested peaks to semi-arid lands as it nears the Snake River. It's an astonishingly beautiful part of the world.

From late June to mid-September, we focus on the Grand Ronde's rainbow trout. We typically average 20-40 fish per rod per day. Average fish run from 10" to 14", with some trout in the 20" class. This is a fantastic family camping/learn to fly fish trip.

From mid-September to November, summer steelhead are the name of the game. The Grande Ronde is recognized as one of the best rivers in North America to take steelhead on a surface fly. The run of fish ranges from "A" run fish in the 4-6 lb class, to "B" run fish in the 7-14 lb class.

Experiencing Northeast Oregon in the fall is a treat crisp mornings give way to sunny, warm days, with the fresh scent of autumn in the air and abundant wildlife.
