Nestled in a lush grove of palm trees on a white sand beach, this casually deluxe lodge is our pick as the best option for fishing the vast wadable flats of South Andros. Four spacious air-conditioned guest rooms each have two queen-size beds, a sitting area, and private bath. The bar, living room, and dining room overlook the covered verandas and the beach. Internet access is available in the small well-stocked tackle shop. This is a first-class operation----wonderful service and hospitality, marvelous food, and a sensational fishing program. Guides pick up guests right out front each morning for the day's fishing. High numbers of bones in the 2- to 4-pound range inhabit the flats of South Andros from Grassy Creek to the Water Cay. In nearby Deep Creek and Little Creek there are opportunties for larger bones. There is seasonal fishing for tarpon and permit, plus options for reef and offshore fishing.

If you enjoy wade fishing on white sand flats, fishing to large schools of bones, or hunting larger singles and double, there is no better place in the Caribbean than South Andros. With only 8 anglers staying at the lodge at one time, this is also the ideal place to take your small group, to occupy the entire lodge, or to enjoy the company of a few other like-minded anglers. We also highly recommend this lodge for couples.

Due to a high percentage of repeart guests, this lodge is often booked months in advance. We encourage you to call us as soon as possible if you are interested in this special destination.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Fly into Congo Town airport on South Andros. You will greeted by a member of the lodge staff, and driven in an air-conditioned van to the lodge, about a twenty minute ride.

Upon arrival at the lodge you'll settle into your room, relax, and receive an orientation about lodge operations and the fishing program. If the tide is right, you can wade fish right out front. The lodge consists of four large guest bedrooms with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and private bath. Each bedroom has two queen beds. A comfortable living area and dining area is adjacent to the bar, where you can help yourself to the drink of your choice any time during your stay. Satellite television is available in the bar area. Telephone and Internet service are also available. Comfortable deck furniture makes relaxing on the oceanfront patio hard to resist, and you can always hang out on the beach in this quiet remote location.

Most arrivals are in the mid- to-late afternoon, though you can arrive early morning and fish on your own, or we can book you a snorkeling or diving excursion. Assuming you arrive late afternoon, snacks and cocktails will be served on the lodge patio deck, or better, on the beach under the coconut palms. In either case, you'll have a perfect view of the ocean.

Unpack, get your gear ready and prepare for a great Bahamian dinner. Fresh seafood--lobster, snapper, grouper, mahi-mahi, conch, and more--is deliciously prepared along with fresh vegetables, traditional peas and rice, salads and soups, and Bair's specializes in homemade desserts. If you like Key Lime Pie, you've come to the right place. All cocktails, beer, and wine are included in your stay.

Day 2
Breakfast at the lodge. You will meet your guide, usually around 7:30 a.m. and be off for your day of fishing by 8 a.m. A hearty lunch will be taken in the cooler for your midday meal on the flats. Fishing areas include Deep Creek, Little Creek, and many other flats down to Mars Bay and beyond, or take a trip through to the remote West Side. Anglers usually return to the lodge between 4 and 5 p.m.

Relax on the patio or on the beach. Evening snacks and cocktails. Shower and relax. Enjoy another great Bahamian meal.

Day 3 and on
Same as Day 2 for the remainder of your stay. You will have to visit Bair's many times over many years before you even approach being able to fish the vast fishing grounds. There are a variety of white sand flats ideal for wading, and the numbers of bones you can see on these flats at times are staggering. While you can catch some big bones while wading, you will have a better chance at the "monsters" fishing deeper water from the boat. The type of fishing you most enjoy, is up to you, just communicate your wishes to your guide and let him use his best judgment to have you in the right place at the right time.

Departure Day
You will be driven back to the Congo Town airport in plenty of time for your flight home or to your next adventure.
