Andros Island
While we enjoy all the islands, and great fishing can be found throughout this island nation, our favorite destination is Andros Island. Andros is considered by many people to be the "Bonefishing Capital of the World." We would certainly endorse this title.
Located one hundred fifty miles southeast of Miami, and thirty-six miles west of Nassau, Andros is surrounded by the best saltwater flats habitat on the planet. The North, Middle, and South Bights are the heart of this famous fishery, but they are only the beginning. Andros sprawls over one hundred miles from the Joulters Cays on the northern end, to the Water Cays and Curly Cut Cays on the southern tip, and spans forty miles from the east coast to the West Side. Composed of serpentine channels and creeks, fresh and salt water lakes, verdant mangrove cays, and countless miles of sandy flats, Andros is blessed with more fertile fishing grounds than any other area in the Caribbean.
Roaming these flats are uncountable numbers of bonefish averaging three to six pounds. There are also abundant fish in the six- to nine-pound class, plus many unforgettable double-digit giants. If you're looking for BIG bonefish, Andros is THE place to take your shot. Andros also offers year-round tarpon fishing, plus seasonal fishing for permit, barracuda, sharks, jacks, snappers, amberjack, grouper, billfish, wahoo, tuna, mackerel and dolphin.
And for the non-angler, there are fine accommodations, delicious food, and a variety of water sports and eco-activities---everything from snorkeling and diving, to sea kayaking, relaxing on the beach, and nature hikes into cool pine forests.
We invite you to experience this glorious saltwater haven with us.

Weather, When to Come
December through March -These can be excellent fishing months, and there is no question that these are the best months for BIG BONES, especially in the months of February and March. The big silver bones love the cool water, and many guides believe this is a spawning time when huge females can be found in large numbers. These months can also bring "cold front" down from Florida, which can mean cloudy conditions and strong winds. Temperatures during the fronts are 55 to 75 degrees. There are many lees around Andros to duck out of the wind, and a number of congregating points where the bones hide in bad weather. Your Tranquility guide will do his best to get you on fish, even in tough conditions.
April through June -This is prime spring and early summer season, and depending on weather, can last into July. It is advisable to make your reservations a minimum of 6 months in advance for this period. We will however, do our utmost to provide you with accommodations whenever you contact us, but it is always best to secure your time in advance. Their are excellent numbers of bonefish along both coasts and in the Bights at this time of the year, and the tarpon fishing is excellent. The buoy fishing is also excellent in the Tongue of the Ocean, with large numbers of dorado, skipjacks and tuna available to the fly rodder.
July through September -Some lodges are closed these months. Still good fishing in the mornings, and for tarpon most of the day. Historically, August and September are known as hurricane months, though Andros, thankfully, is rarely effected. Anglers who want to fish during this time can cancel at short notice, weather pending, and use a full credit to rebook for another trip at another time without penalty.
October and November -The prime fall months, and a very popular time. The flats and fish have been well-rested, and the bones are ready to feed aggressively. Water temperatures are ideal and large numbers of fish are on the flats. This is a perfect time for catching good numbers of bones, as well as big bones. The tarpon fishing also remains very good. A late hurricane or early cold front is possible, but we highly recommend the fall fishing.
